Departure from the hotel at 8:00 am towards Taroudant. Leaving Agadir behind, drive through savanna-like, irrigated landscapes and head to Taroudant, often referred to as the pearl of Souss Valley. On the road, we stop for a moment to admire the goats climbing the argan trees to the top. Along the way make a stop at Tiout, a charming Berber village nestled at the foot of the Atlas Mountains. Meet the locals to learn about traditional farming life. Ride a donkey out of the village and explore the palm-tree oasis and see the old Kasbah of Tiout where part of Ali Baba’s Film and the 40 Thieves was shot, directed by Fenandel in 1954. Before enjoying lunch and the opportunity to have a Tajine, Moroccan couscous, seasonal fruits, and a very tasty mint tea.
Continue your journey to Taroudant and follow your guide as you pass by the red-walled, 11th-century ramparts and five monumental gates. As you learn about the city’s intriguing history, meander through the maze of narrow streets that take you to the busy square of Place Assarag, right in the heart of the city. We visit the Berber Souk to discover the activities of local artisans and the old Sultan’s Salam Palace built in the 16th century. At the end of the excursion, we return to Agadir by another road to enjoy seeing another landscape.
